Utility Service Policies

Water Payments
  • Water bills are processed and mailed on the 10th of the odd months (i.e., January, March, May, July, September, November).
  • Water bills are due on the 15th of even months (i.e., February, April, June, August, October, December).
  • Bills will become delinquent on the 16th of even months and a $15.00 late fee will be applied.
  • Delinquent accounts that have not set up a Promise to Pay agreement will be disconnected 72 hours after the end of the month in which it is due. A yellow disconnection notice will be posted on-site to give the exact day of disconnection.
  • The $20.00 disconnection fee is applied when Public Works is dispatched. The disconnection fee is due whether or not your water is turned off at the time of payment.
  • Once services are disconnected, the delinquent amount plus the $20.00 disconnection fee must be paid in-full before water services will be turned back on.
  • Public Works will not accept payments.
  • Delinquent payments must be made to City Hall over-the-phone or in-person before 4:00pm to ensure same day re-connection of service.
  • If payment is not possible before the disconnection date, residents may submit a Promise to Pay agreement to City Hall.
  • Promise to Pay Agreements must be submitted to City Hall before date of disconnection.
  • If the agreed upon dates within the Promise to Pay Agreement are not kept, water services will be disconnected and a $20.00 disconnection fee will be applied. Total delinquent amount and $20.00 disconnection fee must be paid in-full for service to be reinstated.
Utility Accounts & Application
  • All residences within city limits are required to submit a complete utility application to the City in order to receive water services.
  • Applications must be submitted by date of move-in.
  • The utility application can be downloaded HERE or picked up at City Hall during business hours.
  • For buyers: fill out the first page of application only.
  • For renters: fill out the entire application and have your landlord complete and sign the Authorization to Bill Tenant page. We cannot accept applications for renters that do not have this page completed.
  • Landlords are responsible for delinquent water bills unpaid by their tenants.
  • To disconnect service, contact the city Utility Clerk.
Water Leaks & Adjustments
  • If you receive a bill that seems unusually high, contact City Hall as soon as you receive the bill. The city will re-read your meter and check for a leak.
  • In the event of a confirmed leak, the city can offer a one time annual adjustment based off average usage. Receipt(s) for the leak repair must be presented to City Hall and Public Works will need to confirm the leak is fixed before an adjustment can be made.
  • Common culprits of high water bills are running toilets, watering lawns and/or gardens, or filling pools.
